I'm pleased to announce that I’m exhibiting a small range of in-world avatar photography.

The idea of the pictures has been to make artistic nudes in much the same way you’d do in RL, yet at the same time meeting SL on its own terms, creating pictures which look like they belong in SL rather than being imported from RL.

The exhibition is hosted in the Abbey Island Dance Club - head northwest between the buildings from the landing spot.

We are opening the doors for an event at noon SLT, Saturday the 28th of March, 2009. While it is not technically an opening event – the pictures are already on display there – it is still the official launch of the exhibition.

Harpo Jedburgh will provide live entertainment with his eclectic mix of acoustic, ranging from Bach to Britney Spears, perhaps including his infamous mandolin rendition of Anarchy in the UK.

I will be there to talk about the techniques, ideas and inspiration, if you’re interested. –Or you can just visit to take in the sights and sounds.

The exhibition

The current exhibition of pictures made by Bunny Brickworks focuses on the series 'Rage N Revenge' and 'Desire N Despair'. Both series were produced in Dirt Town, a setting that was built on the former Night Flower sim - an artists' collective and gallery and a playground for some of SL's most talented and creative digital artists.

Rage, revenge, desire and despair are a fundamental part of today's society and the grungy urban setting of Dirt Town with its dark alleys, motels and backyards was the perfect location.

The artwork

The ground floor of the Broken Angels Gallery features the violent part of the exhibition with guns, swords, suicide and domestic violence. The upper floor is home of the adult series, featuring parts of 'The Stockholm Syndrome' as well as hentai & bishojo pornography.

The 'Stockholm Syndrome' is a psychological response sometimes seen in abducted hostages, in which the hostage shows signs of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger or risk in which they have been placed.

HybridLife.net is a social network to connect Second Life residents. It is also a platform for social experiments

HybridLife.net social network is free and not affiliated with Linden Lab; it is localized in English, Danish, German, Italian and Russian, with new languages coming soon and automatic translations in other 30 languages. In addition to its Web 2.0 tools, HybridLife.net is also a platform for social experiments open to Second Life residents. The developers of the site are currently refining its variables and point system, and you are welcome to contact them to provide your feedback on the project. To summarize these social experiments: Second Life avatars can join a “tribe” (each tribe is made by ten citizens) by paying an entry fee or for free as a sponsored entrant. The entry/sponsorship fees are pooled together and awarded to winners, after an administrative fee has been deducted. Also, a share of general sponsorships revenues are offered to winners, to make the prize more attractive.

As a social experiments, and loyal to the philosopy on which Second Life has been built, this is not a one dimension game with one unique final goal. Similar to our first life, there are different categories of "winners": top individuals, top gild, top tribe, etc. Point are awarded based on decision taken by players (as tribes and individuals) and experiment-specific objects owned by partecipants. Decision are expressed by votes.

For example, if a tribe is an open society, all its members gets a percentage increase in their points. So, that does not change how they rank against eachother, but it changes how they rank compared to other tribes. At the same time, being an open society means a higher percentage of consensus need to be achieved before taking decisions. Another example: once a gild achieve a certain number of members (its "critical mass"), all members get a percentage increase in their points. SL residents are motivated to take part in these social experiments, not only with financial rewards, but also for the desire to make a difference by taking part in a social event which can be studied and reported in the press etc.

This Second Life avatars social network is powered by European Social Network MyPacis.eu. MyPacis.eu is a Social Network with a social agenda: promoting peace by linking Europeans together and making easier to learn new common languages. It is an open source, integrated and multilingual social network, developed using Web 2.0 tools.

On Saturday the 4th of August a group of Cambridge-based actors, writers and directors are hoping they have a future West End hit on their hands with "Joined at the Heart." Before the traditional West End they want to break the virtual world. At 7.30pm (BST) / 11.30am (SLT) a performance will be streamed to a large screen in Northsound Island, where the Second Life community will be able to get an "audience" eye view of the musical as seen from the Junction Theatre, Cambridge. Although the quality will not match the live event, Second Life gives people the possibility of viewing "Joined at the Heart", and may even encourage them to travel to the Edinburgh Festival and see it for real.

Hammie Linden is reporting that Lawrence Lessig is coming to Second Life in avatar form. Wow. That is huge. In my humble opinion Lessig is the most important legal figure alive, since he is working on issues that have maximal impact on our future -- issues ranging from intellectual property to the way that code replaces law as our lives increasingly move online. His work provided the philosophical foundation for our forthcoming book Only a Game, and just a few weeks ago I posted links to a couple of his books here on the blog. Definitely check out Code as Law and Free Culture. They are both must reads, and the latter is available free online so you don't have an excuse.

SecondLIFE Boxing is back, and it is better than ever!

The only WWE-like boxing show in SL has resumed holding events every Friday (Friday Night Xtreme) and Saturday (Saturday Night Showdown) at 2pm Secondlife time. This friday (18th March) at 2pm Secondlife time, SecondLIFE Boxing will be showing a special Pay Per View event called 'Royal Rumble' (alot like WWE). It will feature almost every SLB boxing superstar -- all fighting each other for bragging rights and Total Domination (Starts off with 2 boxers, and every 30 seconds a new boxer enters to join the fight). So if you want some entertaining Boxing/Drama action, meet us at the event!

Admission to the arena to watch the show is now free (we took away the entrance fees).

Then Head down to Secondlife Boxing Arena at 2pm Secondlife Time on December 17th (Friday Fight Night), December 18th (Saturday Showdown), and December 19th (The Fight before christmas *Christmas special*) to watch action packed drama and mild violence in a very realistic virtual boxing arena! *SLB Events are best viewed with Local lighting ENABLED*
NOTE - We are looking for Boxers, Commentators, and Security Guards (talk to Andy gupte about being a security guard) who will give enough effort to put on a good, entertaining show for our audience! (yes, there is a evently pay.) So if you are interested, IM Tommy Rampal.
Secondlife Boxing is a mix between the WWE Shows and Boxing. We have hired boxers to walk to the ring (with their own special theme music) and to come fight with our own special scripted boxing gloves. We also have our very own commentators also like in the WWE Tv show (JR and King) that talk about matches and other events by SLB.
Those who have already seen the SLB shows and came to the Boxingmania (another Boxingmania event in march. 'BoxingMania 2') event (with special guests, One song and Tank Levy), Will see some new and familiar faces in the show. We also have changed around the arena a bit and improved some things.
