More about sex and Sims II

The other day we noted that the advertising campaign for The Sims II seems to be predicated on four things: sex, sex, sex, and sex. Since then, Tama Leaver has picked up on this theme on his Ponderance blog, and added some very important observations, not the least of which is that it appears the blurred out bits are actually there, but just blurred (evidence: it only takes a 15K software patch to deblur it!). Here's a quote to get ya going...

"Do I mean 'sex' or 'sim'? It's hard to tell the difference sometimes, and therein lies an interesting point: sexy Sims sell! Or, that's what EA Games seems to have decided (and after selling over a million copies of The Sims 2 in the first 10 days of release, they may be right!)."

Odd then that EA considers sex in tso to be "impossible" don't you think?

How did sex sell this game? A lot of people liked the new features expecially the building options. Sex doesn't tell T rated games...

So true. We all know that teens could care less about sex....

*muffled laughter*

I agree with Uri. Teens are not interested in sex. especially in Sims 2.

The Sims 2 is focused on sex? Thats not true and we all know it.

So, Jess, Deb, you're saying all the adverts are not trying to sell The Sims II on sex. Hmm, interesting, references to the "Kama Sutra", infidelity and the likes? Hmmm, I dunno, I guess the rest of us just don't get it. Sure! It has new features, but man, does EA seem to push the idea of sex forward...

So, in the mags, which have you noticed more? I haven't seen a hell of a whole lot saying "Look, better building tools!" The website is toned down on that, but everywhere else, they seem to be trying to hit our sexual funny bone.

Eh, maybe I'm just don't get it ;)

Peace out...

ok sex didnt sell sims 2 OMG you can woohoo ya.... okay thats why people bought it.....and plus do teens really care about sum sims moving under ther covers they dont even show anything .....take out the blur and theres no detail...HELLO PEOPLE! ITS CALLED MODS AND NUDE PATCHES . EA was trying to make Sims 2 more real by making kids grow older, letting you cook real food, making an upstairs, new building options, teenagers, elderly, trying more than once to get pregnant, getting maternity clothes, having a full family, having homework and feelings, kids....wait hold on how are kids born?..Oh yeah! SEX. what did you expect them to do make children poof out of thin air they tried hard to make sims 2 real not sum porn show like actually having a cheat to show detail and stuff.........GOSH!!!!!!!1!

well sex is pretty fun but I agree there should be more detail like BOOBS!!!! they are COOLIEO
